Privacy Policy

No cookies. No analytics. No tracking pixels. Here is exactly what we collect, why we collect it, and how to have it removed.

Plain English, first: this page is a straightforward summary of what Milestone Messages actually does with information — not a downloaded template. It has not been reviewed by an attorney. If anything here is unclear, email milestonemsg@gmail.com and we will explain it in normal words.

Milestone Messages is a sole proprietorship (“we,” “us”). We rent vintage phone audio and video guest books for weddings and events across New York City, Long Island, Westchester, Rockland, the Hudson Valley, and Northern New Jersey. This policy covers both this website and the recordings captured at events we work.

The short version

  • This website sets no cookies at all and uses no local storage.
  • We run no analytics and no advertising pixels — no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, nothing that follows you around the internet.
  • If you fill in the contact form, we receive what you typed, by email. That is it.
  • At events, guests record messages. Those recordings go to the client who hired us within 14 days, and we delete our copies 90 days after that.
  • We may post photographs of our own setup. We do not publish guests’ recordings without the client’s written permission.

What this website stores on your device

We do not set cookies. We do not use localStorage. There is exactly one thing this site writes to your browser: a single first-party sessionStorage entry named mm_attrib.

It holds a short attribution string — the hostname of the site that referred you (or a #src= tag from a link we shared) plus the page you landed on. Its only purpose is to tell us where an inquiry came from, so we know which listings and referrals are worth keeping. It is not shared with anyone, it cannot be read by any other website, and your browser clears it the moment you close the tab.

The contact form

When you request a quote we collect the fields you fill in: your name, email address, phone number, event date, event type, which package you are interested in, whether you want the 4K video add-on, your message, and the short attribution string described above.

The form is processed by Web3Forms, a third-party form-to-email relay that passes your submission along to our Gmail inbox. Web3Forms acts as a processor for us in that hand-off; their privacy policy is at web3forms.com/privacy. Once delivered, your enquiry lives in our email account and, if you book, in our booking records.

We use this information to answer you, quote your date, and run your event. We do not sell it, rent it, trade it, or add you to a marketing list you did not ask for.

Fonts and your IP address

This site loads typefaces from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). As with any file your browser fetches from another server, that request discloses your IP address and basic browser information to Google. We do not control what Google does with that. We mention it because it is the one third-party connection this site makes on an ordinary page view.

Event recordings — guests, this part is about you

At an event, guests pick up the handset and leave a message. With the 4K video add-on, a short video is captured alongside the audio. Those recordings are personal information belonging to the guest who made them, not only to the couple or client who hired us.

  • What is captured: the audio of the message, and with the video add-on, video of the person speaking. There is no live listening, no attendant standing over the phone, and nothing is recorded unless someone lifts the handset.
  • It is voluntary: picking up the handset is the choice to record. Anyone who would rather not leave a message simply does not pick up the phone, and nobody is asked to.
  • Who receives it: every recording is delivered to the client who booked the event — typically the couple — by download link within 14 days of the event. They decide what to do with it afterwards, including whether to share it.
  • How long we keep it: we hold recordings for 90 days after delivery so files can be re-sent if something goes wrong, and then delete our copies. The client is responsible for downloading and backing up the files within that window; the client’s own copy is theirs to keep.
  • We do not publish guest recordings. We may use photographs of our setup — the booth, the phone, the signage — to promote the business. We will not publish a guest’s recording, audio or video, anywhere without the client’s written permission, and if you would rather your own message were never shared at all, tell us and we will note it.
  • Removing a message: if you left a message and want it pulled before delivery, tell the couple or email us at milestonemsg@gmail.com with the event date and roughly when you called. Once files are delivered to the client we can delete our copy but cannot recall theirs.

Photographs of the booth

We sometimes photograph our own setup at an event for our portfolio and Instagram. If you would prefer not to appear in anything we post, tell us at the event or email us and we will not use it.

Who else sees your information

A short list, and it really is short: Web3Forms (form delivery), Google (our email inbox, and the font request described above), and our website host. We share booking details with nobody else, except that a venue may ask us for a certificate of insurance — that certificate names the venue and the date, not your personal details.

Your choices and requests

Email milestonemsg@gmail.com and you can ask us to tell you what information we hold about you, send you a copy, correct anything that is wrong, or delete it. We will do it, and we will not make it difficult. Please include enough detail for us to find you — usually your name and the event date.

We are a small local vendor in New York, not a multinational, and we do not run a formal GDPR or UK GDPR compliance programme. That said, guests at the weddings we work sometimes live in the EU or UK, and we think the rights above — access, correction, deletion, and the right to object to a recording being kept — are the right ones to offer everybody regardless of where they live. If you are in the EU or UK and would like your request handled with that in mind, say so in your email and we will.

Children

This site is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them through it. Children at a wedding may of course leave a message on the phone like anybody else; the same deletion request above applies, and a parent or guardian can make it.

Security

Recordings and booking details are kept in password-protected accounts and on equipment we control. No system is perfect, and we will tell affected people promptly if something goes wrong.

Changes to this policy

If our practices change, we will update this page and the “last updated” date at the top. We will not quietly start tracking you and leave this page as it is.
